"In this nation I see tens of.millions of its citizens -a substantial part of its whole population- who at this very moment are denied the greater part of what the very lowest standards of today call the necessities of life… I see millions denied education, recreation, and the opportunity to better their lot and the lot of their children. I see millions lacking the means to buy the products of farm and factory and by their poverty denying work and productiveness to many other millions. I see one-third of a nation ill-housed, ill-clad, ill-nourished. It is not in despair that I paint you that picture. I paint it in hope- because the nation, seeing and understanding the injustice of it, proposes to paint it out."

washington square park arrests (by rohanharkinson)

I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around [the banks] will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered. The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs.

How to deal with the 53%

I have a number of friends and relatives on Facebook who for some reason think that the #occupy protests are dumb, or people just complaining.  I’m sure some of you are in the same boat.  Part of me just wants to ignore them, but another part wants them to be able to understand what is really going on, and why they should be behind us.

Anyone have a similar situation, and have any advice?

It is so cool that #Occupywallstreet protests are entering the national mindset

I consider myself a news junkie and fairly political so I was following from when I first heard about it in Adbusters a few months ago.  But, I talked to a coworker about it the other day, and today my boss asked me about the local march I went to the other day. (I work in retail so my boss is only a store manager and not some high power executive) but it is still cool that people are talking about it and that it is not just reaching those looking actively for it.

I also took my parents with me down to the local encampment the other day, it is good to see people in action.

We need to do more than reblog and tweet about it, we need to tell our parents, friends and co-workers, our teachers, pastors, and mailmen.   Get it into everyday conversation

Bring the ideas from the streets to your homes, your workplaces, where ever you go.  Then use those ideas to bring your friends, neighbors, co-workers to the streets.

Fiery!

Fuck yeah WE GET IT.

Can this guy be president?

#ows is growing. We will be in a thousand cities in this country by the end of the month - hundreds of cities in other countries. We will see General Assemblies on six continents.

from occupywallst.org

Wow…Wow…

Over a thousand cities in the US alone…holy crap

Plus cities on six continents (I’m assuming it’s Antarctica that hasn’t gotten on the bandwagon yet….they’re all just a bunch of penguins down there.)

When I first saw the idea months ago in AdBusters I hoped for something big, but wasn’t entirly sure what would come of it.

I hate to use the same word so many times, but

Wow, wow, wow….it’s amazing….we will change this world!
