I’ve only seen a little about what #OccupyOakland has been dealing with.

It’s hard to believe that (as far as I know) they are one of the only active Occupations right now.  Just a few months ago they were all over the country.

And all over my blog.

Most got shut down.

We (myself too) got distracted, by work, school, Christmas, television, life, and whatever else, and are not paying attention to the cause.

This suits the 1% just fine, they distract us and hope we don’t want equality, and rights for all of us. 

It is so easy to not focus, with all the tv shows I want to watch, the books I want to read, the websites I visit, trying to eek out a living, paying bills, going to school, and worrying about life, I don’t focus.

We need to see the movement gain ground again and come back in force.

In May Adbusters is calling on everyone to go to Chicago on May 1st, to occupy during the G8 and Nato meetings.  They are calling for 50,000 people to show up (which is 0.1% of Americans)  

Why not more? I can’t promise I will be there, but we need to make our leaders know that we need change, not token gestures and a government controlled by the rich and corporations, 

WE NEED A GOVERNMENT.

OF THE PEOPLE.

FOR THE PEOPLE.

AND BY THE PEOPLE.

Maybe I’m being naive or something. (But, I really suspect I’m not)

Can anyone tell me what use (besides beating protesters) police have for using night sticks?  They seem a relic of the past, an old timey police man swinging his stick and whistling while going down the street. 

Can we outlaw night sticks?

Oppressive Regimes Always Send the Police in the Middle of the Night

Why do the police keep raiding the ows sites at night?

If they are truly for clearing b/c of the reasons they state (e.g. garbage, sanitation, and the like) why not come during the day?
